I made my first live website in 2005 having learned and practiced HTML for a year. The website was for my local Sunday league football team. I then went on to learn XHTML and CSS to improve the look of the site. The site went through many looks before reaching its final design that can be seen in the portfolio.
That website was supposed to be just a hobby but as I learned more and more I enjoyed it more and more. I decided that I could take the learning more seriously and try to change this into a career. I started to focus on making clean, valid code that produced clean, organised pages. After commanding an excellent grasp of XHTML, CSS and Web standards I started to learn Javascript and PHP.
At the end of 2006 I started looking for work to help build up my portfolio and to gain more experience of designing websites. And so here we are.
A year on I have continued learning PhP and MySQL. I now have several websites in my portfolio with a couple more in the pipeline. I am also about to start studying for the Open University's Certifcate in Web Applications Development.
